Bury St Edmonds

Bury St Edmonds, is a lovely town not far east of Newmarket. Built on a grid pattern (rare for England), its two big draws are the Abbey Gardens and the Cathedral. The latter is undergoing extensive refurbishment and development, in a manner which appears to sensitive to the original structure.

When I got back to Paul's in Newmarket, I met his longtime lodger David, just back from Berlin. Tiny world that it is, David knows my electrician from Sydney.
