Chilling out

Washed Bondi and took him for a walk in Thetford forest. The old comedy series Dad's Army was filmed around Thetford.

Went into Cambridge to see Tim Burton's remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which I liked about 80% of - the handling of the oompah loompahs being a particular highlight. Spotted Aussie actor Todd Boyce in brief appearance as TV news reporter very early on. We ate at the Cambridge Footlights bar, which despite its illustrious title is a very low-rent Hard Rock Cafe-ish joint. The waitress did not know what a "Gin and Tonic" was, and asked that we point to it on the drinks menu, as she didn't believe the bar carried it. The bar had not had any Cambridge English Firsts check the menu which read very poorly. That should have deterred us from ordering dinner, but we were hungry... My Thai Green Curry chicken was not green, nor Thai, and with its 1/3 ration of rice was more like a glutinous lean cuisine ... Paul's hamburger was equally poor. The manager, in "recompense", offered us the opportunity to come back at a later date and see how things had improved (at our own expense).

Closed the evening with drinks at the house of a work colleague of Paul, who had spent some time in Australia, including 6 months in Wagga Wagga.
