The ring of a Capital

A few months back I picked up a map-guide to The Capital Ring, an urban walk of 125km (78mi) that was completed just over a year ago. The walk officially begins and ends at Woolwich, but a train holdup deterred us from setting out there today.

Instead we took the closest segment running from Richmond to Osterley, which follows the Thames (perhaps the only section that does) for a short time and then the Grand Union Canal.

It was a nice crisp, clear day, perfect for walking and you barely notice walking under the A4/M4 corridor. Completing the 5 miles of that section rather quickly, we kept going on through a good part of the next, finishing up on Uxbridge Road at Hanwell.
