There's a small stretch of sandy beach near Sydney Airport – accessible to dogs if you know how to reach it:
- If you're not careful you'll end up on the M5 motorway and thus whisked off to the other end of the universe :-P.
Earlier I'd taken the boys down to Blackwattle Bay for a quick run, and Munson tried to walk out across the water of the canal, plunging like Wile E Coyote off a cliff edge. Poor pup had only entered the water from shoreline before and didn't realise the potential hazard of instant deep water.
Since he was now quite wet and the day was warming up, this airport-side beach was a good choice for him to test out his water wings further with some gentle waves.

Great pics Mike.
ReplyDeleteMike, how do you get there? We've been wanting to take Noodle to a beach to see if she likes it but haven't been able to find a beach that allows puppies. So it'd be great to take her there this weekend, if only directions could be provided? :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's just off General Holmes Drive. If you're heading south, you keep going a very short way after the exit to the M5, and there's a left turn to the control tower.
ReplyDeleteYou drive anticlockwise around the tower and park. The beach is right in front of you.
When you're leaving, there's a road going under GH Drive that allows you to re-enter from the other side and head north.
This is as close as I can get with Google maps.
Yarra Bay, near La Perouse is another dog-friendly beach on the south-side, but a much further drive.
Thanks for that, will give it a go. Have a good weekend mate...we must catch up soon...maybe a playdate for the puppies? LOL
